About

I collaborate with people to figure out what’s next for them. To take action that feels easy because they are inspired to act.

You might lead large organisations, run start-up enterprises, or be sole practitioners. You may manage 20 different departments or run a team of two (including their dog). If you have a desire to bring your vision and strategy to life (so that your teams take action) or to your life (to make their vision real).

Since starting my consultancy practice in 2018, clients have included Coventry City of Culture, Fierce Festival and Jerwood Arts. I’ve hosted Hello Culture (presented with the BBC as part of Digital Cities week in Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester) and run board and staff away days for a host of organisations across the UK from Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh to Brighton Photo Fringe. It’s a real mix.

From 2016 – 2018 I was Director of Organisational Development at Birmingham Hippodrome, where I was tasked with bringing the organisation’s new vision and strategy to life. I focused on its People (board, staff, volunteers and placements) to design communication systems and training. While there I also developed cultural leaders in partnership with Lara Ratnaraja on the ASTONish programme and also on the highly acclaimed RE:Present programme – Transforming the Diversity of Cultural Leadership (both funded by Birmingham City Council and Arts Council England).

Between 2008-2010 I was lucky enough to be a Clore Fellow (officially the NESTA supported fellow for Entrepreneurial Organisations). My fellowship included a secondment at St Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, NY where I worked with the team on the strategic plan that ultimately led to the creation of an award-winning theatre space which opened in 2015.

I frequently run sessions for groups and teams that they find enjoyable and which get results. I studied at Henley Business School for a Masters’ level certificate in facilitation. People seem to enjoy my presentations. I have had gigs as a public speaker, writer and broadcaster. Many see my work for the first time as a host of public events, conferences and seminars including TEDxBrum in 2012 and 2013, the UK Theatre Business Resilience conference form 2017 – 2019 and the CPP National Conference 2015.

I am inspired by, and draw on, a truly diverse range of experiences and influences, ranging from a slew of senior roles (including board positions at the Creative Advantage Fund, Thames Festival Trust, the Creative Advantage Fund, and Geese Theatre) to eight years as a corporate lawyer at Wragge and Co (now Gowling WLG) including secondments at blue-chip companies such as British Airways, the RAC, Novartis and BT Fleet.

With my friend and fellow consultant colleague Dr Andrew Bass, I am co-author of “NetworkAbility – Building your business one relationship at a time”, published in November 2016. Based on workshops delivered to hundreds of professionals, artists, entrepreneurs and students, this book seeks to transform networking, making it easy and natural for everyone.
