I’m studying on the Infant Observation Course run by the West Midlands Institute of Psychotherapy (WMIP).
As part of my training, I’m looking for a family who would welcome a gentle, weekly visit after their baby is born.
This isn’t an assessment or a parenting study — it’s simply a way for me to learn more about how babies grow and relate to the people around them in their everyday lives. Many families find it interesting and even comforting to have someone quietly noticing and appreciating the changes in their baby each week.
👶 What’s Involved
- I would visit once a week for around an hour, at a time that suits you.
- Visits begin within the first few weeks after birth and usually continue for up to two years.
- In the second year, visits can become fortnightly if that’s easier.
- I’ll simply observe your baby — how they grow, move, communicate, and connect with their surroundings.
- There’s no judgment, advice, or assessment — just a calm, interested presence.
đź’› What Families Often Appreciate
- A quiet, reflective hour each week to notice their baby’s growth and development.
- Having someone take a consistent, genuine interest in their baby.
- Gaining new insight by seeing their child through another pair of eyes.
Many families say the visits become a gentle, positive part of their routine — something special that marks their baby’s early years.
đź”’ Confidentiality & Boundaries
Everything I observe is completely confidential.
- Your names, address, or identifying details will never be shared or published.
- Notes I make are used only for private study, and any writing is fully anonymised.
- I’m not medically trained and don’t offer advice or therapy.
- I hold the required security checks and follow WMIP’s Code of Ethics.
The course is accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and forms part of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) framework, which ensures high professional and ethical standards.
If you’d like, I can provide a copy of my current DBS check and a letter of introduction from WMIP with full details of the course and its professional regulation.
🏡 Who I’m Hoping to Meet
I live in Moseley (B13) and would love to meet a family within a 40-minute drive — for example in Kings Heath, Stirchley, Hall Green, Selly Oak, Harborne, Edgbaston, Balsall Heath, or Kings Norton. Obviously for the right family I will make it work!
